Atheism and the Future of the World:
Now here’s the catch to being an Atheist. If you truly are an Atheist, you have joined my kingdom voluntarily. If you do want to survive and reproduce as effectively as possible, then in one way or another you are now helping to build an organic agricultural economy and populist political system. All the observable evidence indicates that we have only one choice left for an ending to the story of the world, and only a few choices left for the future part of the story to lead us to that ending. And even those few remaining choices are being threatened.
If you believe that civilization can survive on its present course, either you’re rejecting some observable evidence, or else you’re attempting to invoke supernatural powers to intervene. If you’re doing either of those, you’re not an Atheist.
If you believe that any other course of action is justified because changing the course of civilization is just too difficult, then you’re mentally ill. You’re attempting to preserve the survival of your DNA by the most effective means perceivable to you by altering your perception of the world. If you participate willingly in an environmentally unsustainable economic system, then you are choosing to help create a world where most of your descendants won’t be able to survive. Already, half of our species are on the brink of starvation—or already past it—and one bullet from any one of those three billion people is all it would take to put an end to your evolutionary line. (Or a few bullets, if you’ve already had children.)
Even if you provide well for yourself under our environmentally unsustainable economic system, live out your days, and die of old age, you’re still condemning your children to face the risk of extinction. Therefore, you have failed to reproduce successfully.
